The City of Pullman has announced the names of three finalists for the position of city administrator. The candidates include Heather Jobe, who has served as Klickitat County Auditor for the past two years; Mark Schuller, the Cheney City Administrator since 2014; and Sean Wells, who has been the City of Pullman Public Works Director for two years.
An opportunity for public engagement will take place on Wednesday night from 6:30 to 8:00 at city hall, where the finalists will meet with community members. The nomination for the new city administrator will be made by Mayor Francis Benjamin, pending confirmation from the Pullman City Council.
The vacancy for the city administrator position arose in May following the departure of Mike Urban. Urban has stated that he was illegally terminated, while city officials indicated that his resignation was a voluntary decision. Urban’s exit is connected to a broader scandal that previously led to the resignation of former Pullman Police Chief Jake Opgenorth in March. An independent investigation cleared Urban of any wrongdoing, and he was initially reinstated by Mayor Benjamin.
