The City of Pullman will hold a public meeting on Wednesday night for the finalists for the position of City Administrator. The names of the finalists are scheduled to be disclosed on Tuesday. The meeting will take place from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at city hall, where citizens will have the opportunity to engage with the candidates. Mayor Francis Benjamin will put forth a nomination for the position, which will then require confirmation from the Pullman City Council.
This vacancy for the City Administrator role arose in May following the departure of Mike Urban. While city officials state that Urban resigned, he contends that he was terminated improperly and has indicated potential legal action against the city. His exit was linked to a controversy involving former Pullman Police Chief Jake Opgenorth, who resigned in March. An independent investigation cleared Urban of any wrongdoing, and he was initially allowed to return to his position at city hall.
Currently, City Finance Director Jeff Elbracht is serving as the Interim City Administrator.
