Several local communities will be hosting public events to celebrate the 4th of July on Friday.

The day begins with the Johnson Parade in the small community south of Pullman, starting at 10:00 AM, followed by a fundraiser for Whitman County Fire District 12, where volunteer firefighters will be selling hamburgers and hotdogs at the Johnson Fire Station.

At the same time, the Latah County Independence Day Parade will take place in downtown Moscow, also commencing at 10:00 AM.

The Albion 4th of July parade is scheduled for noon, which will be followed by a community picnic.

In Pullman, the largest Independence Day celebration in the Palouse will begin at 5:00 PM inside Sunnyside Park. This event marks the 50th Anniversary of Pullman’s Community 4th of July, featuring music from the Community Band of the Palouse, followed by performances by Ian Skavdahl and DJ Goldfinger, leading up to a fireworks show at dusk. The fireworks display will be synchronized with music broadcasted on New Country 104.3 FM. Additionally, Timber will offer hamburgers and hot dogs within the park, and Pullman Transit will provide free shuttles to and from Sunnyside Park on Friday.

The Thunder in the Mountains fireworks display is scheduled for both Friday and Saturday nights in Elk River, while Bovill will host its Big Bang fireworks on Friday night.
