The Palouse Habitat for Humanity is encouraging community members to write good wishes on 2×4 studs that will be incorporated into a Pullman Habitat home set for development in 2025.
Residents can visit various locations in Pullman to sign these studs, which will be auctioned at the Beans ‘n’ Jeans event in April to help fund the construction of the 2025 Habitat home. After the auction, the decorated studs will be used to create interior walls, allowing community messages to be included in the home.
Community members are invited to participate by visiting one of the following locations before Friday, April 4: Etsi Bravo, Neill Public Library, Palouse Discovery Science Center, Pullman Depot Heritage Center, Pullman Regional Hospital, Rico’s Public House, and Whitman Recovery Community Center. Additionally, Coyote Country Roller Derby and students at Lincoln Middle School will also be decorating studs for the Pullman home.
“Decorated 2x4s have been a Habitat tradition for decades,” stated Jennifer Wallace, Executive Director of Palouse Habitat. “We’ve auctioned these decorated studs at Beans ‘n’ Jeans and frequently bring them to community events to engage individuals in wishing the homeowner well. Contributions may include signatures, favorite poems or bible verses, and artwork, all intended to support the homeowner as they begin their journey in a new home.”
