A toxin algae bloom has been detected in the Lower Snake River, specifically in water samples taken from Nisqually John Landing in the southern region of Whitman County. The bloom is reported to be present intermittently between the landing and the Little Goose Dam. In response, Whitman County Public Health has issued a health advisory recommending that individuals avoid areas of the river with visible scum. Additionally, it is advised that pets stay away from the affected waters, and consumption of shellfish from these areas should be avoided.
