The upcoming race for the Moscow City Council this fall is becoming increasingly competitive with the addition of two new candidates for the three available seats. Current Councilwoman Gina Taruscio has announced her intention to run for re-election, and Gary Schoolland has also filed to join the race. This brings the total number of candidates for the Moscow City Council to eight.

In addition, Moscow School Board Trustees Kenneth Faunce and Brian Kennedy are seeking re-election.

In Kendrick, Mike Towne has filed to run for Mayor, while Kelley Shaffer is a candidate for the Mayor of Onaway.

There remains a significant need for candidates in various small taxing district positions across Latah County for the upcoming general election. In Bovill, there are open positions for the city council and the fire district. Deary is seeking candidates for the cemetery and recreation districts. Genesee has vacancies for the city council, mayor, recreation district, school board, cemetery board, and fire district. Kendrick has openings for city council, school board, and recreation district. In Moscow, candidates are still needed for the cemetery and rural fire districts. Onaway is looking for individuals to run for city council, while Potlatch has empty seats for the school board, fire district, and recreation district. Lastly, Troy requires candidates for city council and the cemetery board.

The deadline for filing candidacy for these positions is Friday afternoon at 5:00 PM, with filings processed through the county auditor’s office in Moscow.
