The Idaho Transportation Department’s Office of Highway Safety is participating in the 2025 “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, which will take place from August 15 to September 1.

This initiative focuses on reducing impaired driving incidents as Labor Day approaches, a period noted for increased traffic fatalities in Idaho.

In 2024, impaired driving was responsible for 86 fatalities in the state, accounting for 36% of all traffic-related deaths.

The ITD emphasizes the importance of ensuring a safe ride home, highlighting that every sober ride contributes to road safety and helps prevent accidents.

To reduce the risk of impaired driving, individuals are encouraged to:

– Use a sober driver, rideshare service, or taxi.
– Prevent friends who may be impaired from driving.
– Develop a plan for safe transportation before consuming alcohol.
