The United Way of Whitman County expresses appreciation for local mail carriers in recognition of National Thank a Mail Carrier Day on February 4.
These mail carriers play a crucial role in delivering books to children participating in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program. Since UWWC became the local affiliate for the program in April 2022, over 23,000 books have been distributed across 22 towns and cities in Whitman County. Currently, 960 children in the area benefit from this early literacy initiative.
The United Way acknowledges the commitment of the United States Postal Service mail carriers who service Albion, Colfax, Colton, Diamond, Endicott, Farmington, Garfield, Hay, Hooper, Lacrosse, Malden, Oakesdale, Palouse, Plaza, Pullman, Rosalia, Saint John, Steptoe, Tekoa, Thornton, and Uniontown. The program is supported entirely by local community members, businesses, and organizations, covering the costs of books and postage.
