A fire occurred in a duplex in Moscow on Saturday afternoon, resulting in damage primarily to a bedroom. The City of Moscow Volunteer Firefighters arrived on the scene on Rodeo Drive around 3:30 PM and quickly extinguished the flames. The fire caused limited damage to the bedroom, with some smoke affecting other areas of the unit; however, the adjacent duplex remained unaffected. Two adults were inside the residence at the time of the fire but evacuated safely. Fire Chief Brian Nickerson noted that a resident’s action of closing the bedroom door helped to contain the fire’s spread. Preliminary assessments suggest that the fire may have been caused by an electrical cord in the bedroom. The Moscow Police Department also attended the incident, and the Red Cross was contacted to assist the displaced residents.
