The Moscow Volunteer Fire Department is reminding residents of the regulations and safety practices regarding fireworks as the 4th of July approaches.

According to Idaho law, the sale and discharge of non-aerial common fireworks classified as safe and sane are permitted. These fireworks can be sold and discharged from June 23rd until midnight on July 5th. It is advised to have a water supply available when using fireworks. Discharging fireworks should be done by individuals over the age of 12, and it is recommended not to relight any fireworks that do not ignite successfully. Only fireworks that comply with legal standards are permitted for sale in the City of Moscow, and possession of illegal fireworks may result in a misdemeanor charge.
