A residence in downtown Moscow sustained significant damage due to a fire on Monday morning.

The City of Moscow Volunteer Firefighters responded to the incident on North Washington Street at approximately 9:00 AM. Two residents, along with their pets, evacuated without injury. Firefighters worked to extinguish the flames, which had spread inside the walls and into the attic of the older structure. The Red Cross was notified to provide assistance to those affected. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation; however, Moscow Fire Chief Brian Nickerson has indicated that it is believed to be accidental.
