The Regional Theatre of the Palouse in Pullman is hosting the musical comedy Tootsie, which will run from Thursday, February 13 through the 23rd.

Tootsie, based on the 1982 film and the book by Robert Horn, premiered on Broadway in 2019 and had a successful run of over 300 performances.

The story follows Michael Dorsey, played by California-based actor Andres Felipe, a talented performer whose challenging reputation leads to difficulties in securing roles. In a bold move, Michael adopts the persona of an actress named Dorothy Michaels to audition for a part in a Broadway musical. As he navigates his newfound success, complications arise when he begins to develop feelings for his co-star, Julie, portrayed by Pullman local Daphne Gunn.

The production is produced by RTOP’s Executive Director John Rich and directed by Palouse native Michael Todd. It features community board member Tina McClure as musical director and Daphne Gunn as choreographer. Costume design is managed by John Rich, with support from WSU intern Dallas Martin.

Showtimes and ticket purchasing options for Tootsie are available through the theatre’s official channels.
