On Saturday, June 14, Pullman’s Cougar Plaza and surrounding city blocks were filled with American flags and various political signs as part of a local demonstration. This event was organized by Indivisible Palouse, the Colfax branch of the national progressive grassroots organization Indivisible.
The demonstration was aligned with the No Kings! Protests, a nationwide movement that included approximately 2,000 protests across the country. These protests were a response to the US Army 250th Anniversary Parade, which was associated with the Trump administration’s plans and coincided with the President’s 79th birthday.
Protesters gathered near a major intersection in downtown Pullman, where many drivers responded by cheering and honking in support as they passed. The protest began at 11:00 am, and by 2:00 pm, a number of peaceful demonstrators remained in the area despite the warm weather.
