**UPDATE:** Shawn Johnson, a 58-year-old man from Sequim, Washington, was arrested following an incident in which he allegedly fired a warning shot at a Washington State Patrol trooper during a traffic stop near Colfax on State Route 26. The Washington State Patrol reported that the shot was fired from a white GMC truck passing by at around 3:00 PM. Fortunately, there were no injuries, and no damage was reported to the trooper’s vehicle or the car that was pulled over. On the same day, Johnson was involved in a separate incident described as a rolling shooting spree that spanned over 60 miles across Whitman and Nez Perce Counties in Idaho. According to a press release from the Idaho State Police, the situation began when a motorist reported that Johnson was firing shots through the sunroof of his pickup truck while descending Lewiston Hill on U.S. Highway 95 around 4:00 PM. Law enforcement conducted a high-risk traffic stop on U.S. Highway 12 in North Lewiston and arrested Johnson without further incident. He was charged with aggravated assault and taken to the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office Jail in Lewiston. Johnson reportedly confirmed to the Idaho Troopers that he had fired rounds from his truck.

The initial report of the incident originated from Dusty, Washington, where law enforcement received alerts about a driver brandishing a firearm on State Route 26. According to Whitman County Undersheriff Chris Chapman, Johnson was seen firing shots into the air while traveling through Colfax on U.S. Highway 195. As law enforcement searched for him, he allegedly discharged additional rounds in Colton and Uniontown.

The Idaho State Police are seeking information from anyone who witnessed the incidents. Johnson’s pickup truck had a decal that read “Hammer and Nail.” Those with relevant information are asked to reach out to the ISP office in Lewiston. Additionally, U.S. Highway 12 was temporarily closed in North Lewiston during Johnson’s arrest, and shell casings were recovered on U.S. Highway 195 in Southern Whitman County.
