The Northern Pikeminnow reward program at Boyer Park on the Snake River below Lower Granite Dam will continue for an additional couple of weeks this season.

Typically, the reward season concludes around September 30th in the Northwest. However, this year, select locations within the program will remain open for fishing until October 12th. This extension is aimed at achieving the objective of removing up to 20% of predator fish from the Columbia and Snake Rivers.

The federal program compensates anglers for submitting Northern Pikeminnow caught in the Snake River, as these fish are known to prey on juvenile salmon and steelhead. To date, one angler in the region has earned nearly $131,000 from participating in this program.
