Outgoing Pullman City Councilman Trymaine Gaither has announced his resignation, which will take effect on July 15th. Gaither was appointed to the council last year to fill the vacancy left by former Councilman Francis Benjamin, who became mayor. He cited family reasons for his departure, stating that his family needs to move outside of Pullman for his son to access specialized services.

The Pullman City Council will be responsible for appointing someone to fill Gaither’s seat, although the specifics of this appointment process have not yet been disclosed.

Gaither was already planning to exit the council, as he did not file to run for reelection this year. Currently, seven candidates have entered the race for the seat, engaging in a primary campaign. The two candidates with the highest votes in the August primary will proceed to the general election in November.
