Wendy Kruger, the outgoing athletics director at Pullman High School, has received the Washington Secondary School Athletic Administrators Association’s AD Service Award. The award was presented during the association’s annual conference in the Tri-Cities and acknowledges an athletic director’s hard work and contributions to their school.

Recently, Pullman Schools Superintendent Dr. Bob Maxwell announced that Kruger’s position will be eliminated by the school board due to financial challenges, with the responsibilities of the athletic director being reassigned to an assistant high school principal. Kruger will be laid off on July 1st, coinciding with the start of the district’s next fiscal year. She has served as PHS AD for four years.

The decision has sparked reactions from members of the Pullman School District community. The school board is scheduled to meet on Wednesday at 6:30 PM at the high school, offering an opportunity for public comments.
