The Port of Whitman County has been awarded a $75,000 grant from the Community Economic Revitalization Board to support a planning study at the Port’s Business Air Center. The Port will also contribute 20% in matching funds for this study, which aims to explore options for expanding the existing industrial park at the air center.

Recently, on June 30, the Port finalized a land trade that resulted in savings of $2 million for taxpayers and secured additional land adjacent to the Business Air Center.

The grant will enable the Port to assess the site’s development needs, which include conducting an environmental review, geotechnical analysis, and an infrastructure needs assessment, among other evaluations.

Commission President Kristine Meyer expressed appreciation for the planning grant, stating that the feasibility study aims to identify effective development strategies for the area, with the objective of enhancing economic activity, attracting business investment, and creating jobs.

The Port anticipates completing the planning study by fall of 2026, with construction to follow.
