The Moscow community is being informed about the upcoming biannual water system flushing scheduled to begin next week, from May 19 to 30. This process aims to ensure the safety of the city’s drinking water and will involve water flowing through the streets.

The schedule for the spring flushing is as follows:

– **ZONE 1**: May 19 & 20 – Main St west to the City Limits between D St and Taylor Ave
– **ZONE 2**: May 21 & 22 – D St north to the City Limits between Almon St and Polk St, and from Taylor Ave south to Palouse River Drive, including the Frontier addition
– **ZONE 3**: May 23 & 27 – 6th St north to the City limits between Polk St and Mountain View Rd, and the Fort Russell neighborhood
– **ZONE 4**: May 28 – 6th St south to the Troy Highway and east to Mountain View Rd and Indian Hills Addition
– **ZONE 5**: May 29 & 30 – Everything east of Mountain View Rd from the north to the south City Limits

Drivers in these areas are advised to exercise caution while driving during the flushing.

After the city flushing is completed, residents are encouraged to take the following steps:

1. Run cold water for 10–15 minutes to clear local lines.
2. After running cold water, run hot water for several minutes to further ensure the lines are clear, especially before using washing machines.
3. Residents with water softeners or whole-house filters should perform a regular maintenance check after the city flushing is complete.

If residents experience water discoloration or do not see an improvement after running cold water, they should contact the City of Moscow Water Department at (208) 882-3122 for potential localized flushing.
