A primary runoff election is scheduled for August for a Pullman City Council position.
Trevor Vance has filed for the seat currently held by Carla De Lira, joining candidates DiDi Lubash and Andie Lee Freeman in the race. The top two vote recipients in the primary will advance to the November general election.
Randy Cross has also filed for a Pullman City Council seat currently occupied by Trymaine Gaither and is the only candidate for that position thus far.
For the Pullman School Board seat held by Amanda Tanner, two candidates have filed: Teena Edwards and Brandon Kruger. It is noted that Kruger’s wife, Wendy, has been the Athletics and Activities Director at Pullman High School, a position that was recently eliminated due to budget cuts. This decision received significant public feedback during a recent Pullman School Board meeting, where the decision was upheld with a tie vote of two to two. Tanner was not present at that meeting, which contributed to the tie. The duties of the PHS AD are being reassigned to an assistant principal role.
Numerous positions are up for election this year in Whitman County. Candidate filing continues through Friday, either online at https://www.whitmancounty.org/531/Candidate-Filing-Forms or at the Whitman County Auditor’s Office in Colfax.
