A man from the Pullman area was transported to a Seattle hospital due to burns sustained from a cooking incident on Sunday afternoon.

Whitman County Fire District 12 Volunteers and Whitman County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a fire at the trailer court on Pullman Albion Road around 12:30 PM. Upon arrival, firefighters found no active fire, and the individual had already been taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.

Preliminary information suggests that the man was cooking with oil in a pan, which ignited. While attempting to move the pan outside, he reportedly spilled some of the burning oil on himself. The individual has since been transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for further treatment.
