The Pullman School Board has reached an agreement to sell the aquatic and fitness center to Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL).

In March, SEL, a global company based in Pullman, proposed to purchase the indoor pool and continue its operation as a public facility. The Pullman Aquatic and Fitness Center, established 25 years ago with a contribution from the Schweitzer Family, is currently owned by the Pullman School District and operated by the City of Pullman.

Over the past year, the pool has encountered issues related to operational costs and necessary upgrades. Dr. Ed Schweitzer, the founder of SEL, presented a proposal that included a $1.2 million offer for the facility, along with plans for upgrades and management by SEL.

The Pullman School Board officially approved the purchase and sale agreement for the aquatic center during a special meeting held on Monday night.
