Bennett Lumber, the new owner of the rail line in North Latah County, is addressing the issue of old railroad ties being taken from the site. The company has acquired the rail between the state line and their mill near Princeton, and has engaged a contractor to refurbish the rail. It has been noted that some old ties near the tracks have been removed. A message from Bennett Lumber on Facebook clarifies that these ties are the company’s property and should not be taken, as they are not scrap. The company encourages anyone who may have taken ties to return them and requests that anyone witnessing the removal of ties report it to them.
