A rape case against a Washington State University student has been dropped following the introduction of new information by the defense.

21-year-old Jayce Carnahan faced charges of rape and assault after a female student alleged that he raped her during a fraternity party last May. The case was recently dismissed by Whitman County Senior Deputy Prosecutor Tessa Scholl, who indicated that the new information provided by Carnahan’s defense attorney from Seattle rendered the case no longer provable to a jury beyond a reasonable doubt. Scholl has stated that she continues to believe the victim. The victim has since left WSU, while Carnahan has been expelled from his fraternity but remains listed as a WSU student.
