The recreational sites along the Lower Snake River, including Wawawai, Blyton, and Nisqually John in Southern Whitman County, are currently open to the public during the federal government shutdown. According to a spokesperson from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Walla Walla, access to these sites remains available for recreational activities. The continued operation of these sites is contingent on the availability of corps funding and staffing.
