Efforts are being made to find new homes for nearly 50 dogs currently residing at a home in Albion, as this situation does not comply with local regulations. The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to the matter last month and has confirmed that the dogs are in good health and well-cared for by the two residents of the home. Many of the dogs are puppies or small breeds.
A deputy is collaborating with the owners to facilitate the adoption process, allowing them to comply with the laws of Albion. Paws and Claws Pet Rescue from Pasco is spearheading the initiative to find new adopters for the dogs. The sheriff’s office reports that several dogs are being picked up each week with the owners’ cooperation, which they believe is the most effective method, given the dogs’ good condition.
To support the rehoming efforts, a GoFundMe page has been created to help cover associated costs. The Whitman County Humane Society in Pullman is also involved in the initiative, even as they manage their own overcrowding of dogs at their facility.
