Pullman resident Ron Morgan has decided not to run for Whitman County Commissioner this year. He had initially announced his candidacy following Chad Whetzel’s appointment to the position last month. Morgan, along with Whetzel and Cody Finch of Pullman, applied for the county commissioner seat that became vacant when Michael Largent retired in January. The Whitman County Republicans nominated all three candidates for the role, and the remaining commissioners made the appointment.
Cody Finch has confirmed he will run for the seat in the upcoming fall election, and Commissioner Whetzel, a resident of the Pullman area, will also be a candidate. If no additional candidates enter the race, the November general election will feature a contest between these Republicans. Morgan’s earlier intention to run had set the stage for an August primary.
Candidate filing for the Whitman County Commissioner seat is set to begin on May 5th. Morgan cited his new role as a manager at Zeppoz in Pullman as the reason for his decision to withdraw from the campaign.
