This week marks a special filing period for various seats in Whitman County that currently lack candidates for the upcoming election.

Open positions include:
– Garfield: Hospital district, fire district, and cemetery district.
– Tekoa: Hospital district, school board, fire district, and parks and recreation district.
– Colfax: School board and cemetery district.
– Rosalia: School board and parks and recreation district.
– Endicott: City council, fire district, parks and recreation, and cemetery district.
– Farmington: Two city council seats.
– LaCrosse: City council, fire district, and parks and recreation.
– Lamont: Three city council posts and fire district.
– Malden: Two city council positions.
– Uniontown: One city council seat.
– Palouse: Fire district commissioner.
– Oakesdale, St. John, Thornton, and Winona: Cemetery board seats.
– Steptoe: Sewer board candidate.

The special candidate filing period for these positions begins Wednesday and concludes on Friday at 4:30 PM. Candidates must file in person at the auditor’s office located in the courthouse in Colfax.
