There will be a spring Chinook salmon fishing season on the Lower Snake River in Washington. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is set to open the season on Tuesday. Spring Chinook fishing is permitted only below Little Goose Dam, south of LaCrosse. The fishing area extends from the dam downriver to the Texas Rapids boat launch near the Tucannon River’s mouth. Fishing will be allowed on Tuesdays and Fridays, with a daily limit of four hatchery chinook, although only one can be an adult. The season will conclude once the recreational harvest quota is met.
It is important to note that the closest local boat launch for this season has been closed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Riparia launch is closed until further notice due to a staffing shortage, which has been attributed to various administrative factors.
