Motorists on U.S. Highway 12 along the Clearwater River can expect traffic delays and a possible detour.

The Idaho Transportation Department has initiated rock scaling work on the canyon walls near the Arrow Bridge between milepost 15 and 16. On Tuesday afternoon, the department reported 20-minute delays with flaggers managing traffic in the work area. These delays are forecasted to continue through Wednesday and Thursday.

Beginning Friday, there may be a complete closure of the highway over the weekend. In the event of a complete closure, traffic will be redirected via State Highway 13 or State Highway 162. After the weekend, the 20-minute flagging delays are expected to resume on Monday and continue through Wednesday next week. This maintenance work aims to stabilize the canyon walls along the highway and mitigate the risk of rockslides.
