Acclaimed writer-director and University of Idaho alumna Megan Griffiths has been named the inaugural recipient of the KINO Short Film Festival’s Trailblazer Award. The festival, celebrating its 25th anniversary, will take place on April 25-26 at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Center.
Griffiths has established a career in both film and television, with her work showcased at major festivals such as Sundance, South by Southwest, and the Toronto International Film Festival. She has directed feature films featuring actors like Toni Collette, Beau Bridges, Oliver Platt, Melanie Lynskey, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Tony Hale.
Her television directing credits include episodes for HBO’s “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” and “Room 104,” Amazon’s “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” Fox’s “Prodigal Son,” Netflix’s “The Society” and “Panic,” and TNT’s “Animal Kingdom,” among others.
The festival will include a screening of Griffiths’ work at 7:30 pm on April 26, followed by an audience Q&A. She will also conduct a masterclass in directing for film and television at the U of I Education Building, room 443.
