The race for Whitman County Commissioner this year will be contested. Recently appointed Commissioner Chad Whetzel has filed for election, alongside Pullman resident Cody Finch, who has also declared his candidacy for the same seat. Whetzel was appointed to the position by the remaining commissioners after the retirement of Republican Commissioner Michael Largent. Both candidates were nominated by the Whitman County Republicans.
In another countywide race, Commissioner Karl Webber has filed for re-election to the Port of Whitman County Commissioner position. Additionally, recently appointed Pullman Regional Hospital Commissioner Michael Cady has announced his candidacy. Cody Lord has filed to run for Mayor of Garfield, while Lee Root is a candidate for Mayor of Rosalia.
Candidate filing for the upcoming elections in Whitman County continues through Friday, with numerous positions available for candidates across the county.
