The repaving of U.S. Highway 195 near Pullman has been postponed to next year due to a strike by the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302, which began on August 12th. This strike halted the progress of the project aimed at repaving nine miles of the highway.

Washington State Department of Transportation Regional Administrator Charlene Kay communicated an update regarding the strike to local partner agencies, indicating that the paving work on US195 is now rescheduled for next spring.

Poe Asphalt, the local company contracted by WSDOT for the $3.5 million repaving project, was originally scheduled to conduct the work from early August through September. Additionally, several other highway construction projects in Eastern Washington have also experienced delays due to the ongoing strike.
