The University of Idaho’s Department of Theatre Arts will stage seven performances of the musical “Pippin,” created by Stephen Schwartz, known for works such as “Wicked,” at the Hartung Theatre in Moscow.

“Pippin” narrates the journey of a young prince as he seeks purpose through various experiences, including war and pleasure, ultimately finding that true fulfillment may be found in life’s ordinary moments.

The show will incorporate aerial arts performed by the Gem State Flyers, enhancing the theatrical experience.

Director and choreographer Jess Hirsh, Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre, stated, “Pippin is a young man who is trying to figure out what to do with his life, and he feels pressured to identify the most perfect, extraordinary choice. I know that is something that many folks in our campus community can relate to.”

This production marks the introduction of the Theatre Arts Department’s new Musical Theatre BFA emphasis.

Performances will take place starting with a preview at 7:30 PM on Thursday, October 30, and continue on October 31, November 1, 7, and 8 at 7:30 PM, with additional matinees at 2:00 PM on November 2 and 9.

U of I students can reserve free tickets for the performances.
