A Washington State University Associate Professor, Michael Edwards, has been arrested following a road rage incident that occurred on Friday afternoon. According to reports, the incident took place around 4:00 PM on SE Terre View Drive, near the Moscow-Pullman Highway.
Police responded to a call about the incident and found that Edwards, 55, was allegedly involved in a series of collisions with another vehicle. It is reported that he first struck the rear of the victim’s car while they were turning off the highway. Edwards then reportedly drove into oncoming traffic and collided with the side of the victim’s vehicle, forcing it off the road. He is also accused of slamming on his brakes in front of the victim’s car, leading to a rear-end collision.
After the series of events, Edwards reportedly contacted the police to claim he was the victim of a rear-end crash. However, investigators used surveillance footage from the Washington State University campus to establish that he was at fault for the collisions. Three individuals were in the vehicle that Edwards allegedly struck, with one passenger sustaining minor injuries.
Edwards has since been arrested and booked into the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office Jail in Colfax on charges of second-degree felony assault. He made his first court appearance on Monday, where it was confirmed that he had posted a $1,000 cash bond.
