Utah State University President Elizabeth Cantwell has been appointed as the next president of Washington State University (WSU). The WSU Regents approved her appointment during a special meeting on campus. Cantwell, who has served as president at Utah State for a year and a half, will officially begin her role at WSU on April 1st.

She will succeed WSU Systemwide President Kirk Schulz, who announced his retirement effective June 30th of this year. Following this announcement, the regents have decided to accelerate Schulz’s retirement to March 31st. Schulz will continue to provide support to WSU in the capacity of senior advisor to the president.
