Volunteer firefighters responded to a field fire west of Pullman on Monday afternoon.
According to Whitman County Emergency Management Director Bill Tensfeld, Fire District 13 from Onecho was dispatched to the incident along Long Hollow Road around 2:00 PM. The fire affected approximately 30 acres of agricultural fields, an unoccupied home, and several outbuildings. A firefighting helicopter was deployed to assist in controlling the fire. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and it occurs during the ongoing harvest season in that area of Whitman County.
