The White Pine Fire has burned approximately 1,000 acres and is currently 10% contained. Located in North Latah County, the fire suppression efforts are being coordinated by the U.S. Forest Service. The fire, which ignited last month, has seen nearly nine million dollars invested in suppression efforts, with costs for recent operations amounting to about one and a half million dollars. A half inch of rain has fallen in the area recently, and over 400 firefighters are actively engaged in battling the blaze. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

The fire is situated east of State Highway 6, near the Giant White Pine Campground, and the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest is currently closed in the vicinity of the fire.
