The White Pine Fire in North Latah County is currently reported to be 78% contained. The fire, located near the Giant White Pine Campground north of Harvard, has burned approximately one thousand acres since it started last month. The cause of the fire has not been determined at this time. The U.S. Forest Service has allocated 14.4 million dollars towards firefighting efforts, with around 250 personnel assigned to manage the situation. The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest in the affected area is closed.
