Washington State University will feature intermittent fireworks at all home football games this season, but there will not be a large postgame fireworks display.

The decision regarding the fireworks was highlighted by Pullman City Councilman Nathan Weller, who noted concerns from some residents on College Hill regarding the noise caused by the fireworks during Cougar football and baseball games. Weller suggested that the city could assist in informing residents about the scheduled fireworks to help them prepare for the noise disruptions. However, city officials have not acted on this request, as there has been no directive from the council as a whole.

According to Pullman City spokeswoman Meghan Ferrin, the city is not publicizing WSU fireworks due to the lack of council direction. In response, WSU Athletics is enhancing their communication regarding the football fireworks. The department has announced via social media that fireworks and percussion rounds will be activated when the football team enters the field and following touchdowns and field goals. Notably, there will not be a complete postgame fireworks show this season, unlike last season when a full display occurred after a late game against San Jose State University.

It is important to note that Pullman has a ban on personal fireworks, allowing them only on the 4th of July and New Year’s, but WSU is exempt from this restriction.

The schedule for the 2025 football games that will feature fireworks and percussion rounds is as follows:
– Sept. 20 vs. Washington at 4:30 p.m.
– Oct. 25 vs. Toledo at 12:30 p.m.
– Nov. 15 vs. Louisiana Tech at 7 p.m.
– Nov. 29 vs. Oregon State at 3:30 p.m.
