Washington State University’s Institute for Shock Physics has received a cooperative agreement renewal of $32.5 million from the US Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration for a five-year period.
The renewal aims to support research in dynamic compression science, according to Brian Jensen, ISP director. The funding will facilitate advancements in experimental methods and data analysis, as well as promote collaboration with partners and the development of new scientists in the field.
A key research objective for ISP is to contribute to the ongoing advancement of dynamic compression science, which plays a significant role in the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Stockpile Stewardship Program.
