Betsy Cantwell, the new President of Washington State University (WSU), is implementing changes within the administration, including the replacement of institution spokesman Phil Weiler.

On Tuesday, WSU announced that Pam Scott has been appointed as the new leader of marketing and communications. Prior to joining WSU, Scott served as the Media Relations Director at Eastern Washington University and held the position of Associate Vice President for Media Relations at the University of Arizona, where she collaborated with Cantwell. Her experience also includes a role as Vice President of Corporate Communications at the Red Lion Hotels Corporation. Scott has been with WSU for approximately one month, initially taking on the role of Vice President for System Communications and Strategy.

Weiler has been the university spokesman since 2017, serving under former President Kirk Schulz. According to the WSU administration, the institution is committed to supporting Weiler during this transition.
