The Washington State University Regents are nearing the completion of the search for a new president.
Chair Lisa Schauer has provided an update regarding the search on the WSU website. Last week, private meetings were held to interview the finalists for the position. The regents are scheduled to meet on Thursday and Friday for their regular meeting, where they will discuss the finalists. If a consensus is reached on a candidate, Schauer anticipates that the regents will initiate contract negotiations. A subsequent meeting will be held to officially appoint WSU’s next president and finalize the contract. The identities of the finalists have not been disclosed to the public.
Last month, the WSU Regents revealed that five candidates were being considered for the role. This search was prompted by President Kirk Schulz’s announcement in April that he would retire in June, following calls for a change in leadership from faculty and several former provosts.
