The Washington State University Regents have selected a finalist for the position of the institution’s next president.

On Friday, the board chose “Candidate B” from three finalists who were recently interviewed in private. The names of the finalists have not been disclosed, and the appointment will be made public following the regents’ vote on a contract. The board has authorized staff to initiate contract negotiations with “Candidate B.” Over 200 individuals expressed interest in the WSU president’s position.

In April, WSU Systemwide President Kirk Schulz announced his retirement effective June of this year. This announcement occurred amidst discussions from faculty and former WSU Provosts regarding a change in leadership at the institution.
