Washington State University’s Spokane Chancellor Daryll DeWald has announced that he will go on leave and retire at the end of the year. DeWald will take immediate research leave for the remainder of the calendar year. He joined WSU in 2011 as the Dean of the College of Sciences and became the Inaugural Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences in 2012. In 2017, he transitioned to the role of Spokane Chancellor, where he was involved in the establishment of the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine in Spokane. During this transition, WSU Provost Chris Riley-Tillman will assume Chancellor duties and oversee the university’s health sciences enterprise. There has been no announcement regarding long-term plans for the Chancellor position.
