A student at Washington State University, Calby Van Hollebeke, is organizing a series of live classical music performances during the summer harvest in Southeastern Washington. This initiative, named “Harvest Interludes,” is part of her work in the Publicly Engaged Fellows program at WSU, which is supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Van Hollebeke is collaborating with fellow musicians, including oboe graduate student Kamil Tarnawczyk and University of Idaho graduate teaching assistant in violin Alex Crisp, to form a classical music trio. The group is working with local farmers to schedule performances for their harvest crews during lunch breaks.
